Before I made the list, I wanted the laptops to meet some criteria. For example, laptops had to be small, or at least smaller than a regular size laptop. But not too small that would strain your eyes. And that’s why I didn’t include any 11 inch laptop. Another consideration, would be a lightweight laptop, so a laptop over 4 pounds would not make the list. Then, I look at things like CPU speed, and memory size. it’s hard to find small laptop under $300 dollars with a really powerful CPU, and more than 2 gigabytes of RAM. Also, most small laptops have SSD drive, as laptop with Hard Disk drive tend to be bigger, and heavier. These are some of the things that make possible to build a small and lightweight laptop. Therefore, based on these characteristics, I put a list of the best laptop you can buy under three hundred dollars.

Based on these characteristics, I put a list of the best small laptop you can buy under three hundred dollars. Finally, I wanted laptop with hardware compatibility with other operating system. In case you’re not happy with the manufacturer operating system, you can install Linux. Thus, CPU compatibility with other operating system is a must.

3 – Asus 14 inch Premium EEEBOOK Laptop

In third place, I chose the Asus Premium EEEBook 14 inch Laptop. It comes with an Intel Celeron n3050 dual-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. None of this are very impressive, but take into consideration the slick design, long battery life (12 hours), and the price. This laptop is sold for 209 Dollars. The laptop also comes with an ethernet port, which a lot of small laptop don’t have. The weight is 3.6 pounds (not too impressed there). One of the disadvantages of this laptop is the fact that it comes with only 2 gigabytes of memory, and 64 gigabytes of storage. If you use any resource intensive application, 2 GB of memory might not be enough. I would like to see this laptop come with 4 gigabytes of RAM, and more SSD storage. other than that, I think the laptop it’s perfect for the price.

In first pick is the Toshiba CB35-B3340 13.3 Inch Chromebook 2Toshiba Chromebook 2. This Chromebook comes with 4 gigabytes of SD ram an Intel Celeron processor n2840 capable of 2. 6 gigahertz speed. In addition, the battery is capable of lasting up to 11 hours. I think it might be even longer than that I can attest for it. One of the drawbacks of this model is the 16 gigabyte solid-state drive. The size of the display is that 13.3 inch IPS screen with Intel HD graphic. it only weighs 2.97 pounds, or roughly three pounds. I think it’s an amazing laptop for this price the price is only two hundred ninety eight dollars. If you’re not familiar or a fan of Chrome OS, you can install Linux on this laptop. This installation process has a huge online support, and community. Finally, the Toshiba Chromebook 2 is one of the best laptop you can buy under three hundred dollars.
Pros:

Low Price
Performance
Nice Graphics and Display
Long battery life (~12 hours)

Cons:

16 GB Solid-state Drive (SSD)
13-inch IPS Screen, Intel HD graphics

in conclusion, If you want a small, portable and lightweight laptop, with a decent cpu and enough memory, you don’t have to empty your bank account. I only included laptop of 13 inches and 14 inches because I believe the laptop of 11 inches are way too small (personal taste). It’s very easy to find lots of 11 inches laptop under $300 and even under $200, but given the size of this laptop, I think it will be too strenuous on your eyes, especially when working for long periods of time, and depending of the type of work. For example, If you’re a programmer, and spend lot’s of time looking at code, the 11 inch laptop will not be a good fit. I hope you found this list helpful ,and a good source for picking your next laptop.

I would like to hear what’s your number 1 pick for laptops under $300. Of course, laptop needs to be lightweight and portable (small). Leave a comment with your pick and a link to the product.
