Scaling Down an Image Using Imagemagick

imneeeerdoIn my last post, I used GIMP to scale down an image for the web. But there’s a command tool in Linux, for those of you not afraid of tinkering with the shell, called Imagemagick. This tool makes the process of scaling down the picture pretty easy, as you only have to enter the percentage by which you wish to downsize your image. Furthermore, I also noticed that if I keep the output image with same extension, works a lot better, than if I change it to png. Which is the recommended for the web. Any ways, here’s the command:

convert GEDC1008.JPG -resize 10% outputSmall.jpg
